A siblingship dna test is used to determine the statistical probability that two individuals are related as siblings. Direct paternity and maternity DNA tests are always the best option to determine biological relationships. However, in instances where the alleged parents are unavailable for DNA testing, siblingship testing provides another option.
Siblingship results are reported in a different manner than paternity test results. Instead of 0% or 99% or greater probability that you would see with paternity results, siblingship results will indicate if the test participants are more or less likely to be related as siblings based on the genetic material exhibited by each person. The strength of the tests will vary and may not provide conclusive results.

Fraternal or Identical Twins?
The importance of determining whether a set of twins are fraternal or identical goes beyond their physical appearance. It can also be a factor in paternity. A set of identical twins will share the same father. Unlike identical twins, fraternal twins can have two different fathers. Usually, when twins are born, the physician is able to tell whether twins are identical or fraternal by examining the placenta. However, if there is doubt about the determination that was made at the time of birth, a Twin Zygosity DNA test will reveal the truth.

In cases where the mother or father is missing or deceased, the Missing Parent/Genetic Reconstruction DNA test helps in determining paternity or maternity by using the DNA from the maternal or paternal grandparents or siblings (parents of the missing alleged mother or father).
It is also possible to conduct this testing with only the child and both alleged paternal grandparents
